Overview
Interstate Paper is a manufacturer of kraft linerboard. The mill was built in the mid-60's by a group of independent boxmakers with the enthusiastic help of the federal government (via a rural economic development loan), local civic leaders and local landowners. Operations began in 1968 producing 400 tons per day. Via judicious investment by the present owners, production has increased to 900 tons per day.

Interstate Paper, like all affiliates of Interstate Resources, is truly a family-oriented operation. Of our 230 employees, over 60 are second generation employees of the company; we also have third generation employees at the mill. We view our customers and local area residents as extensions of our family. We are the largest employer in the area and are especially proud of our environmental stewardship.

We are ranked 1st in the nation among paper mills in the quality of our effluent discharge. Our waste treatment facility is a thriving plant, animal and fish eco-system and has been cited by the National Audubon Society for the high density of waterfowl that call this home. We also take other forms of conservation seriously, having lowered our fresh water consumption by 30% since 1990. To us, making paper means more than just making money. It means safeguarding the environment and being a valued member of the business community.

Products & Services
We manufacture 900 tons per day of kraft linerboard grades (including high compression strength grades) ranging from 35# to 69#. Our product contains 3%-15% recycled fiber depending on the grade.

Our industry niche is satisfying customer needs, at which we excel. Several years ago, in response to industry demand, we designed and marketed in record time two high compression strength grades (35# and 55#) that are among the industry's best in compression strength per pound of fiber. Since that time, 52# has been developed. Industry acceptance has been so good that these grades now represent 35% of our production. We also excel at customer service.

Our forte is JIT (Just-In-Time) delivery. Strategically located warehouses, including a new 88M square foot facility at the mill, allow us to receive and deliver orders in a day or two. We also pride ourselves on being the best in the business at responding to all customer needs, including requests for technical assistance and rapid resolution of customer concerns.

Finally, Interstate continues to invest in state-of-the-art information technology to enable us to better serve our customers and to keep us competitive in the business.

Location
Interstate Paper is located in Liberty County on the SE Georgia coast. The mill entrance road is off Highway 17, 30 miles south of Savannah, Georgia and only 10 minutes from Interstate 95.

Easy access to Interstate 95, CSX railroad and at least five ports makes shipping within the continental US and into the export market very efficient.

A Word From Our General Manager

I am a long time employee of Interstate Paper and I understand the unique nature of our Company and how that uniqueness adds value for our customers.

We are a market mill and will stay that way. We value partnering for the benefit of both parties over the long haul. We truly run our Company with a family spirit that permeates all our business transactions. We are entrepreneurial by nature and like to think outside the box. Since we are the smallest virgin linerboard mill in the United States, we have to do this to stay competitive. This also means being very flexible in order to respond to our customers' needs better than the competition.

To us, words like partnering, long haul, family, entrepreneurial and flexible are more than empty rhetoric. If you value these attributes in your business partners, give us a ring. Better yet, come see us. Our doors are always open.
