Overview
Interstate Container began operating in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1955. In 1964, the company moved to its current facility on Industrial Avenue East. Over the years, the facility has been expanded several times to accommodate increased volume due to customer demand. We currently occupy two remote warehouse sites in addition to the plant's Lowell location.
Interstate Container - Lowell (ICL) operates as an autonomous corrugator and converter. That differentiates us from most of our highly integrated competitors. As a small company, we develop close partnerships with our customers. This is evidenced in the high level of "personalized" service that we provide. ICL has a talented and experienced workforce with a strong customer focus and a pro-active approach to problem solving.
ICL is part of a financially strong company whose ownership is committed to investment in the Lowell plant. Appropriations of capital enable continuous improvements in quality and productivity and our ability to maintain a competitive cost position in a very competitive market.
Capitalization is critical to continuous product and productivity improvement. Specific improvements include a new double-backer and glue station on the corrugator. A computer-driven automatic order changer was added in 2002, providing our customers with the highest quality corrugated products. In 2005, we added a high-graphic, three-color rotary die-cut machine with state-of-the-art print and die-cut capabilities.
The variety of machinery at ICL, combined with the machine options at Interstate Premier Packaging in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, provides a vast diversity of product options for our customers.
Interstate Container - Lowell achieved ISO 9001 certification in 2000. Following initial certification, the plant achieved a new level of distinction with the ISO 9001-2000 level of excellence awarded in 2004. ISO serves as a quality and service validation process for the plant to exceed the customer's ever-increasing requirements.
Products & Services
Interstate Container - Lowell is a full-service corrugated vendor, offering a full range of products including RSC's, die-cuts, multi-colored graphics, and specialty gluing. We have the manufacturing capabilities for producing small or large boxes, product displays, auto lock bottoms, and 5-color printing. We have the advantages of secured raw material sources, a Design Department that can produce structural and graphic designs, and a highly trained Sales and Customer Service team.
In addition to corrugated products, ICL supplies foam, tape, chipboard pads and partitions, packing filler, and other non-corrugated packaging products. We are also experienced providers of Packaging Warehouse and Distribution Programs. If our customers require assembly or fulfillment needs, we can handle both short and long-term needs. Our goal is to be the single source for all of our customers' packaging requirements.
